Mohini : Female Avatar of Lord Vishnu

Mohini : Female Avatar of Lord Vishnu

Description:

Mohini. The only female Avatar of Lord Vishnu. Mohini was first introduced to gods and demons in the tale of Samudra Manthan, when gods and demons fight each other to possess the elixir which came during Samudra Manthan. Mohini cooled down the situation using her charm and seduction. Then during the Harihara incident, Lord Shiva and Mohini bore a children, who later came to known as Ayappa. Mohini is described as most charming and seductive incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is always illustrated in blue tone, that's why I used blue skin tone to his female avatar too. Hope I took care of each aspect. Mohini is standing at the beach with a pot of elixir. This image portrays a scene of Samudra Manthan.

Hope you'd like it. :)

Indraprastha : Magical City of Pandavas

Indraprastha

Magical City of Pandavas

Description:

Indraprastha was the city owned by Pandavas, as described in the Mahabharata. It was originally known as Khandavaprastha, but then Pandavas developed a magical city with the help of Indra, and named it Indraparstha. It had a magical palace, known as Maya Palace. I've illustrated that palace here, which has eternal light coming from the sky. The modern day Indraprastha is known as Delhi, the capital city of India. Since the Mahabharata occurred more than 5000 years ago, we don't have any ruins of Indraprastha or its palace.

This is just an imaginary art of how the magical city of Pandavas might be looked like. The city was protected by the head god of Kuru Clan, Lord Shiva, and that's why I put the idol of Lord Shiva at the top of city, who protects Indraprastha.

Hope you would like it.

Harihara : Combination of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva

Harihara

Description:

The combination of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The form in which they both joined in one form, is known as Harihara Form. The dark skinned is Lord Vishnu, and the fair skinned is Lord Shiva with their appropriate weapons and energy.

Hari- Hari is the name of Lord Vishnu
Hara- Hara is the name of Lord Shiva

SO, their combined form is known as Harihara.
There is one sloka, which I'm presenting below:

शिवाय विष्णु रुपाय, शिव रुपाय विष्णवै
शिवस्य ह्रदयं विष्णुः, विष्णुश्च ह्रदयं शिवः
यथा शिवमयो विष्णुः, एवं विष्णुमय शिवः

It means, Shiva is form of Vishnu, and Vishnu is Shiva's. Vishnu lives in Shiva's heart, and Shiva lives in Vishnu's. Thus, Vishnu has Shiva and Shiva has Vishnu.

Hope you would like it. :D

God's Pain : Sati dies and Shiva cries

God's Pain : Sati dies and Shiva cries

This image illustrates the incident when Sati commits suicide by burning herself in the Yajna organized by her own father, Daksha. And then Shiva appears and takes away Sati's burning body. This imaginary art shows the smoke of Sati's burning body forming into their private love moment.

Shiva and Sati are said to be the first love story of the universe. And it also ended painfully. That's why I entitled it God's Pain.

Lord Ganesha and Maharishi Veda Vyasa writing the Mahabharata

Lord Ganesha and Maharishi Veda Vyasa writing the Mahabharata

Description:

Maharishi Veda Vyasa tells the story of the Mahabharata, and Lord Ganesha writes it.

Actually, there is no specific sloka, which could describe that Lord Ganesha helped Veda Vyasa in writing the Mahabharata. However, there are few legends who say that it was Ganesha who helped him in writing. When Vyasa was searching for a writer who could write it, he found Ganesha, the only one who could match his speed. Ganesha agreed on one condition that Vyasa must not pause while he writes. And witty Vyasa also agreed on condition that Ganesha must not write any sloka before fully understanding it. So, thus, whenever Vyasa needed time to think about next slokas, he spoke few complicated sloka that needed time to understand, and he could figure out time to arrange next slokas. And through such hard process, they completed writing the greatest epic and the book of the Mahabharata.

They wrote it in cave. So, here I've portrayed them in the dark cave, where Ganesha is writing with the help of light coming from the lamp.

Dwarka: The Golden City of Lord Krishna (with Oil Paint effect)

Description:

The golden city of Krishna submerged in the ocean more than 5000 years ago (3102 BCE). Dwarka was made by Lord Vishwakarma in one day (mentally) on the order of Lord Krishna. Krishna and Balarama both made this city their abode. It was located at the west coast of India. Today's Dwarka is incarnation of that submerged city, but that was purely made of gold.
Here, in the center, it's the palace of Krishna and Balarama. Two other palaces, connected by two bridges, are Rukmini Palace and Satyabhama Palace. The flag with peacock feather was the national flag of Dwarka state.
It's fantasy artwork, and a Photomanipulation using various locations of world. And then applied with oil filter effect to give it a look of oil painting.

I had this hobby of designing mythical cities and mythical characters, and I'd publish as many as I could create. Thank you for watching, and I really hope you'd like it.
